William Randolph Hearst Endowment

The William Randolph Hearst Endowment supports the educational programs at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum and focuses on development of educational materials. These materials include those based on the content of exhibits in the Museum along with teacher document packets and materials on specific subject areas that can be incorporated into classroom learning situations. Through the generosity of the William Randolph Hearst Foundation, the Library staff has available the latest technical materials and equipment for maintaining the education program.

Winnick Family Foundation Education Program

The Winnick Family Foundation Education Program sponsors programs and exhibits that benefit students at all grade levels. The wide range of activities includes simulations, interactive displays, and classroom adventures. The Museum offers guided tours and special activities in the Museum Classroom for students of all ages.

Through the generosity of The Winnick Family Foundation Education Program, students are exposed to the latest education techniques and programs aimed at strengthening their classroom skills. Teachers have an opportunity to enhance their skills and utilize the resources available for their classrooms. Over 15,500 students from across the state of Texas toured the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum during 2000. Thousands of these students also participated in one of the Museum Classroom programs.

The tour content is fully integrated into the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for the social studies curriculum and diversified to age and grade level. The goals of this program are to ensure that tours of the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum complement student classroom studies and to encourage school districts to bring students to the Museum three times during their school career - once in elementary school, once in middle school and once in high school. The educational staff and docents provide all tour participants with a quality experience that is both fun and educational, resulting in the large number of teachers, students, parents and families who attend the summer programs and special events.
