Celebrating Two Extraordinary Lives and Legacies

Celebrating Two Extraordinary Lives and Legacies

June is always a special month for the George & Barbara Bush Foundation as we honor the birthdays of both Mrs. Barbara Bush (June 8) and President George H.W. Bush (June 12).

On Friday, June 12, we were thrilled to welcome nearly 400 visitors to the George H.W. Bush Presidential Center for this year’s Bush Birthday Celebration—a free, family-friendly event honoring President and Mrs. Bush’s enduring legacy.

This year, we were especially proud to spotlight Mrs. Bush’s passion for family literacy through two special story hours featuring an incredible lineup of guest readers. From student-athletes and university leaders to community partners and even Texas A&M University’s beloved mascot, each of our guests helped share the joy of reading with children and families across our community.

Our sincere thanks to our guest readers, who helped make this celebration so special:

  • Sophia Ridley, Multimedia Journalist, KBTX
  • Dawn Hammatt, Director, George H.W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum
  • Benjamin Pinkerton, Adult Ministries Pastor, Grace Bible Church
  • Dennis Brunson, Sons of the American Revolution
  • John Sherman, Dean, Bush School of Government & Public Service
  • Liz Sherman, Associate Professor of Practice, Bush School of Government & Public Service
  • Reveille X, Texas A&M University mascot, and her handler, Breanna Powers
  • Trovon Baugh, Texas A&M University football student-athlete
  • Marcus Ratcliffe, Texas A&M University football student-athlete
  • Mike Johnson, Associate Vice President & Chief of Police, Texas A&M University

Fred McClure, Chief Community Engagement Officer, Texas A&M University; George & Barbara Bush Foundation Board Member
